Following eight years in the IT industry, Stephen Lamb founded Slamsoft Computing Limited in October 1996. The decision to 'go contracting' was based on several reasons:-

• An opportunity to broaden his IT experience, working with different people, using different technology.
  

• Take control - a chance to work independantly, and look after his own business affairs.
  

• The potential for better earning, and more control over where and how the company's income is managed.
  

Slamsoft Computing has now been operational for around 16 years. Although the company was formed during the 'boom' time experienced by the IT sector in the mid-nineties, it has since had to endure more leaner times since the turn of the century. Despite this, the company is still progressing well, with regular investment being put towards training and technology with the aim of keeping Slamsoft Computing ahead of the pack.

The company is a family run operation, and with this, comes a personal approach to business. The aim has always been to provide a professional attitute towards an assignment but without the red tape, politics and expense often associated with a larger company.
